We have developed a field guide to assist in the correct identification of Australian birds of prey.
Please note that while all best efforts have been made to ensure the pictures provided are labelled accurately, we are always happy to stand corrected! In addition, if you have original, high-quality photographs of any species you’d be willing to share on this page, please get in touch. We are particularly interested in the growth stages (chicks and juveniles) of the owl species!
In the spirit of reconciliation, Australian Raptor Care and Conservation Inc acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. We recognise and appreciate the traditional significance and cultural roles birds of prey play in the lives of our First Nations people.
