Type:

A large, solitary hawk of wooded and open forests, it soars in wide sweeping arcs.  Feeds on mammals (especially rabbits), reptiles, carrion, as well as eggs and nestlings of other raptors.

Found throughout most of Australia, apart from the high rainfall south and east areas.
