A medium-sized, versatile falcon with highly variable plumage, from very pale to wholly dark. Has long legs and short toes. One of Australia’s most common raptors, often seen on roadsides and farmlands. Hunts both on the ground and aerially for a large variety of mammals, reptiles, insects, and also carrion.

Fairly common and widespread throughout Australia
