Similar to above Kite but underwings show distinctive black markings in ‘M’ shape. Has softer, more owl-like plumage. Primarily nocturnal when its rodent prey are abundant
Uncommon, found mainly in eastern interior of Australia; unless food shortage necessitates moving closer to coast.
