Australia’s largest goshawk. Distinctive heavily barred wings and tail seen when soaring. Feeds mostly on birds, particularly pigeons and parrots, but will take other bird species and rarely mammals.  

Found only in a narrow coastal band from the Kimberley in WA up and around to the northernmost tip of NSW; seldom seen.
